Wildfire (Cocktail Chemistry version)
Ingredients
- Crushed ice for ice shell.
- 1 to 2 tsp Cocoa powder.
- 1 oz Chartreuse.
- 1/4 oz smokey Mescal.
- 1/4 oz lime juice.
Glassware
- Nick and Nora Glass (fire resistant).
Construction
- Make an orange size ice shell and set aside.
- Carefully put Cocoa powder into a powder shaker or at the bottom of a fine mesh strainer.
- Pour Mescal into a jigger and set aside for later.
- Pour lime juice into another jigger and set aside for later.
- Pour Chartreuse into a Nick and Nora glass.
- Light the Chartreuse in the glass on fire.
- Speed is important. There's fire!
- Shake the cocoa powder onto the flame for some flare up effects. Some of the chocolate should burn, some should fall through into the Chartreuse.
- Carefully pour Mescal down the inside wall into the Nick and Nora glass. Flame should keep burning.
- Carefully pour lime juice down the inside wall into the Nick and Nora glass. Flame should keep burning.
- Gently pick up ice shell and place round side down onto the Nick and Nora glass resting on the rim. The flames should go out; glass rim should cool. Water vapor should be seen inside glass.
- Carefully pick up the glass a couple of inches and set it back down firmly, but do not break the glass.
- The ice shell should collapse down into the glass contents.
