Talk:UTC Timestamps (EA)
From Motley Bytes Wiki
- In the spring, leaping forward can distort delta times, skip some scheduled tasks, or expire some tasks early.
- In the fall, falling back can distort delta times, generate negative delta times (time travelers), repeat some scheduled tasks, or expire some tasks late.
- Usually, it is better practice to use UTC dates and times for static storage and use dynamic conversion to local time for end user display (if required).
- UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) is a better abbreviation them GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) although both are usually equivalent.
- Neither UTC nor GMT observe daylight saving time, they are constant time standards and do not change with the seasons. However, many countries and regions switch to different time zones, like British Summer Time (BST) in the UK, during daylight saving time periods.
