Arthur Stanley Eddington. (1882 - 1944). English astronomer, physicist, mathematician, and philosopher.

Noteworthy

• Testing relativity during 1919 eclipse on the island of Principe, the smaller, northern major island of the country of São Tomé and Príncipe lying off the west coast of Africa in the Gulf of Guinea. It is called Eddington's Experiment.
• The Eddington limit, the natural limit to the luminosity of stars, or the radiation generated by accretion onto a compact object, is named in his honor.
